For the contemporary space the art is the showcase and my design reflects that.

It Starts With the Room

People are often surprised when I tell them I don't start by looking for artwork.

Before I can choose the right piece, I need to know where the design is going. The layout, cabinetry, furniture, lighting, colors, and finishes all help shape the direction of the space. Once those pieces are in place, I can start looking for artwork that truly belongs.

I'm looking for the right style, the right scale, and something that complements everything else in the room.

When all of those things come together, the room doesn't just look finished.

It feels complete.

Scale Matters

The mistake I see most often is artwork that's simply too small.

Artwork should feel like it belongs on the wall it's hanging on. It should relate to the furniture below it and feel balanced within the room. When the scale is right, everything feels more intentional.

Most of the time, I want artwork to complement the space rather than become the focal point. But every once in a while, the artwork is the star of the room—and when that's the plan, I design the space around it.

There isn't one rule that works for every home. It's about finding the right balance.

The Right Piece Makes a Difference

I don't believe artwork is just there to fill an empty wall.

The right piece adds personality, finishes a room, and helps a house feel more like the people who live there.

That's why I spend so much time choosing it. Every home is different, and the artwork should reflect that. It shouldn't feel like something you could move from one house to another without anyone noticing.
